Electric dryer heating element12/14/2023 When I put it back, I connected the spring to the spot I >thought<< it came from, though it seemed tighter than it was originally. When I had originally disconnected the belt from the tensioner, the tensioner fell off it's pivot. Began looking at drum roller wheels online and had a thought. Disassembled a second time this morning and didn't find any obvious failings. Ran with top cover off, but still could not pinpoint any one area/culprit. Would quiet down when it cooled off a bit or on air cycle. Test run was good, but dryer got loud and rumbly after it had been up to temp for a while. Put it back together in garage and had time to bring it back into house yesterday morning. Laundry pile was going to get deep if I didn't act pronto. I'm way more willing to wear clothes more than once before washing, but the rest of the fam. I paid a premium for it, but valued the time it saved me. Local place I bought dryer actually had the OEM heater in stock. For 8 years of rigorous use, I expected worse, really. There was no major lint bomb jamming anything up, though I did take opportunity to give the cabinet, ductwork and anything I could access a good vacuuming. I'm going to blame it on any of the cats around here. I should mention that the reason heater probably burnt out was that the flapper door outside of house got jammed shut. Totally obvious what was going on after I got it off, but flying blind the first time-nothing else I could have done.Īnyway, I was surprised at how much linty crap and 5 year old kid's pocket contents were inside the cabinet AND surprised at how clean the actual ductwork and proper airflow was. I had to beat it hard to get panel to budge and bottom corner is all f'd up now. Screws out, the locating pins have (had, now.) metal barbed ends. Probably good I moved it to larger workspace for initial tear down, as removing front panel was a total bitch. I hauled dryer to garage and tore it apart. Things aren't as well made these days and parts are a crapshoot. Monkeymon may actually be the OEM supplier for Electrolux. Like Tmaximusv said, it is really hard to tell OEM parts from generic these days. I like threads with follow-ups, so here is mine.
